Graycard Privacy Policy

Graycard processes photos on your Mac with on-device Core Image. Photo bytes are never uploaded. The sandbox may use the network only for Mac App Store purchases and, if you turn it on, anonymized analytics. Analytics is off until Settings › Privacy. When enabled, usage events and an anonymous install ID go to PostHog in the EU. Photos, recipes, proofs, folder paths, and client names are never included. There is no account, no advertising identifier, and the data is not used to track you across other companies’ apps. Turning analytics off deletes the install ID and stops sending. If analytics stays off, nothing is sent.

App Store privacy answers

Data Used to Track You: No. Data Linked to You: No. Data Not Linked to You: Product Interaction, Other Usage Data, Other Diagnostic Data, and a User ID, each for Analytics. The User ID is the anonymous install ID, not an account.

What stays on your Mac

• Bookmarks to the folders you open, grade recipes, and saved looks
• A thumbnail cache capped at 2 GB, auto-cull face measurements, and job journals, in Application Support. Removing a shoot deletes its measurements. Clear Cache removes them too.
• Your settings, including the creator and copyright credit you enter for exports, and the studio logo image if you add one
• Proofs, written only to folders you choose

What a proof contains

A proof keeps the shot date, camera, lens, GPS when the photo has it, IPTC, and a body serial number when the file has one. MakerNote is dropped. GPS in a proof is the camera’s metadata in the file. Graycard does not collect your location. An XMP sidecar next to the proof holds ratings, labels, and white balance. JSON sidecars are not written.

Network

Photo bytes are never uploaded. StoreKit talks to the Mac App Store for purchases. PostHog in the EU is contacted only after you enable analytics.

Purchases

Graycard Pro is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the payment. Graycard does not receive your card number or Apple Account password.

Children

Graycard is a tool for photographers. It does not knowingly collect a name or a photo from a child.

Your rights

If analytics is on, an anonymous install ID is held at PostHog in the EU. Turning analytics off deletes it. Email us to ask about that ID. If analytics stays off, we hold nothing from the app.
